I have been depressed many times in my life and it’s probably safe to say I am right now. I’m not sure I know any tricks. I often lose interest in existing, but in my case, these valleys are usually brief enough that I can see the up-slope on the horizon so I just wait for it to arrive.
Often times, my bouts of depression are based on circumstances. If that’s the case, I try to deal with the situation that’s bringing me down. If it’s just a sourceless and amorphous malaise, that’s harder. The only thing I’ve found to ever help is exercise. Specifically running. It has a way of shaking up my brain chemistry and resetting it. Doesn’t always work, but often does. Worth a try.
